ASTM A268 is a standard specification for seamless and welded ferritic and martensitic stainless steel pipes for general use. Its grades include TP410, TP405, TP420, TP430, TP430Ti, TP403, TP409, TP444, TP439, and TP446. It covers standard specifications for nominal wall thickness of multiple grades. Welded ferritic and martensitic stainless steel pipes are used for general corrosion and high-temperature services, and ASME SA268 is an alternative standard.
The pipeline should be manufactured using seamless or welding processes without adding filler metal. The pipeline should be reheated to a temperature of 1200 F [650. C] or higher and cooled to meet the requirements of this specification. All pipelines should be free of excessive scale and suitable for inspection. Mild oxidation will not be considered as scale.
